Success in reaction engineering in the field of plastics recycling

Mixing performance and catalyst effectiveness optimized with help of CFD simulations done at Buchi

Researchers of the ETH Zurich in collaboration with Buchi demonstrated that optimal stirring parameters play a key role in chemical plastics recycling. They introduced a criterion to enhance mixing performance and catalyst effectiveness to treat polyethylene and polypropylene. All experiments have been done in Buchi’s technologically leading PPR (Parallel Pressure Reactor) system.
